Meghan Markle: Prince Harry’s fiancee uses a suitcase that has a British tie

Meghan Markle, 36, regularly travelled before meeting her fiance, Prince Harry.

As a humanitarian and a global ambassador, she frequented a number of countries whilst doing charity work for World Vision.

She was also an avid traveller in her personal time, which she often wrote about on her now-closed lifestyle blog The Tig.

As she travelled through the airport, she was spotted with a particular suitcase brand every time.

It has a fascinating history connected to Britain.

The 36-year-old was often seen leaving the airport with her main luggage being a Ghurka Kilburn holdall.

Coming in a number of styles and colours, Meghan chose one similar to the Kilburn II No. 156 leather suitcase.

It retails at a whopping $1,495 (£1,049) on the website, for those wanting to invest in it themselves.

However, her exact make with wheels no longer appears on the website, which is the Ghurka RS No. 252.

People in the UK wanting it for themselves will struggle to find the brand although they can be found in department stores Fortnum & Mason.

Despite Meghan using the suitcase before she met Harry, the suitcase has links to the UK and was inspired by Britain.

The brand was founded in the early 1970’s after founder Marley Hodgson discovered camping gear at an east sale in the UK that belonged to a British Gurkha commander.

Items such as boots, belts and backpacks were discovered made from strong leather that was still supple over 100 years of being used.

Marley Hudson then created his first Ghurka bag in 1975, where they are no created in a factory at Norwalk in Connecticut.

Meghan isn’t the only fan of the brand; President Ronald Regean requested hand-made agendas for his staff in 1984, as well as being used by MclAren owners and actress Nina Dobrev.
